Hey all-

Winter is right around the corner here in Montana. I just got my boat (Penta AQ240A/280) and it has a closed cooling system, courtesy of San Juan Engineering. I was wondering what I need to change in the standard winterizing procedures in the FAQ's.

I suppose I'll do everything but pull the engine drain plugs eh? Drain manifolds, unhook raw water hoses, fog it? But the antifreeze should be OK to leave in the block, right?

Thanks!

Thats exactly what its for.

YES! And I couldn't be happier about it! It's a new concept to me and I just want to make sure i don't monkey anything up. If I understand the system right it takes quite a load off my mind about winter storage.

I guess another question is what type/rating of antifreeze should I be running in that thing? It sure looks like regular ol' automotive antifreeze. Also, do I cut it with water or run it straight?

Thanks again!

Ayuh,... Read the jug,... It needs to protect to temps Colder than expected....

As long as you Drain, ALL of the raw water side,... It'll be Good to Go...

....and by ALL of the raw water side he is including the power steering cooler, heat exchanger, lube oil cooler and anything else that see raw water!!
Make sure ALL the water is out of the leg as well. :)

dittoditto.

I even put antifreeze in the raw side because I cannot get to the oil and PS coolers. water always pools in the PS cooler and associated plumbing.
