After I finish the new transom on my aluminum boat, I'll need to mount the motor. Should I add a sacrificial plate on the transom and what should it be made of. I was thinking of maybe using aluminum checker plate or 3/8 plastic( from the boards of a hockey rink) or should i use wood .

Re: Sacrificial motor mount plate?

anyone got any suggestions

Not that I specifically know... but;

I have seen mostly wood used for such applications. I would love to see the aluminum used as I think that it would be nice looking.

Perhaps a mix of wood/aluminum; Wood core with a thin aluminum overlay?
