Safe to drill into this area for amp?

I purchased an amp for my system that needs air cooling. I cannot store it in the back bench like I thought (I didn't like it by the gas tank anyways) so I am thinking of mounting it under the passenger side side skirt on the opposite side of the engine harness wiring. The thing I am curious about is if the material that is flat is wood or not. It sounds like wood, but I cannot find a blueprint of the boat. It may be part of the second hull (bilge) and made of fiberglass which would be bad to drill into. If drilling into wood I would use the proper marine sealant on the screws. Of course the simple solution would be to peel up the carpet but that stuff is glued _well_. I am thinking of putting a piece of plywood up under there so the amp will not only be held by two screws and have a nice backing to zip tie the wires to for a clean look. Any info or suggestions on how to mount the amp would be appreciated. Thanks abunch.

can you access the side with the engine harness wiring? Maybe hold a camera up to the hole and snap a pic or something? Its probably wood or wood encased in fiberglass would be my guess. But, don't go by my guess, try and get underneath the other side and see or wait for a sea ray guy to chime in.
