safe to use penetrating oil on prop shaft?

Bruce, do you "time" your props? If so, have you noticed any difference whether it was timed or not?

no luck yet..the cable on my puller snapped like you mentioned it would. I was able to get a good amount of pressure on it, but unfortunately not enough to pop it loose. As of now I'm just going to spray it daily until I get my hands on a gear puller. i'm really hoping that does it

Right or wrong, if it was me, I would put it back together and run it. Their not goig anywhere and the damage is done. At some point in the future when they have to come off, like bent or something, then cut them off at that point. Service the oil and enjoy the boat for now.

My mistake. Guess I missed the part about the drain being under the prop on his model. Thought he just wanted to grease the shafts while servicing the unit.
