safe to use winterized gasoline?

I'm hearing mixed reviews...I have leftover gasoline for my outboard. It was treated with a fuel stabilizer over the winter. My question is, is it safe to use along with fresh gas? Or should I always start the year with fresh gas, and never bother using the "old?" In other words, throw out the old gas even if stabilized. Your advice is greatly appreciated.

personally i have always prefered to get rid of old gas. it helps the carbs. run it in the weed eater, blower etc.

if the gas was stabilized it should be still "fresh." Stabil keeps fuel fresh for a full year if treated with the proper dosage or up to two years if you double the doasge. Maybe not as fresh as it was out of the tank, but it will be fine. if you didnt use stabilizer i'd tell you to definately get rid of it.

it's ok to use treated fuel -- otherwise what's the point. My boats sit from early November to late March with treated fuel. They start fine and run fine. I just top off with fresh fuel if the tank was not full. Six months or so of storage would not be a problem. I'm not so sure I would use one year old fuel, treated or not. Run that with fresh fuel in your other small engines (or your car).

mercfisherman, The only issue with last stabilized winters gas will be if your area recently switched to the ethylenol-gasoline mix. They recommend you not mix the two different types. In that case, burn all the old gas, and then fill up with new gas.
