I have an 88 Ski Nautique, all together with a full tank of gas and trailer it weighs about 3400 lbs. The trailer has the surge break system (the tongue pivots). I highly doubt the brakes work, I'd even bet on it. The backup switch also has no effect. I have no problem controlling the trailer and stopping. The pivot kind of scares me though, it is rather loose and cannot be tightened(or atleast I don't know how
). Pivots too much while towing and provides a couple unnecessary jerks on the road. I only tow this trailer about 10 times a summer maximum. I was thinking of leaving the tongue in the upright-towing position and drilling a hole and bolting it in that position. What are your thoughts?
