Safety kill switch is killing me

1979 Johnson ob, V4 115hp...black and yellow wire is emergency stop wire...can I simply splice in one end of the universal kill switch into that wire, and the other end of the kill switch to the black ground wire of the harness in the 'partial' diagram photo below...& yes I understand to use the N.O. terminals on the kill switch.

Admitted... electrical and I don't belong in the same sentence, just can't seem to grasp it at times...
So 'please', someone help in the simplest of terms so I can move on, Thank you.
And I thought music theory was tough, until now! :eek:

When the kill switch lanyard is pulled, the switch closes the circuit and applies a ground to the coil. So it seems to me you are on the right track...
