Safety Lanyard

My first post, and I'm sure I should know this already, but I don't. My boat is a 1998 SeaRay 185BR. Does it have a receptacle for a safety lanyard? I looked around the shifter and didn't see one, but my wife is always telling me I'm blind...
The boat runs now, so if it requires one, then the safety circuit is either defeated, or it has the plug but no lanyard, and I must be blind. Thanks, y'all.

Hey there! :welcome:

Not a pro here, but I found a video online of a 1998 Sea Ray 185.
Provided the video is of a stock boat, and your boat is stock, then it should be where the arrow is pointing in this screenshot.

If what you have doesn't look like this, then I'm not sure...

Hope it helps!

Welcome aboard.

Not all older boats have Man Overboard kill switch, so you may not have one. If you don't find a lanyard, look for something that has the U shape plastic piece that the cord should be attached to to disable the switch, which is not a good idea.

Did the boat have one of these laying somewhere? Most are red and this is a universal with different clips to fit most styles of kill switches.

Hey GA, it didn't have a lanyard anywhere on board that I've found, but I'll make sure to look carefully next time. And nice to know they sell universal ones that work with different makes.
Thanks!
