I'm sorry, but does anyone else find this hilarious?! Award shows like the Golden Globes are just a bunch of events where the hoity-toity's just pat each other on the back... and now the they have officially announced that they are not going to attend their own back-patting ceremony!! Oh the humanity!!

So now, they're going to have a 3 hour show of actors congradulating the actors on their accomplishments and how great of a job they did, but the actors aren't going to show up to get their booty's kissed.

So so funny!!

I think the actors are being dumb like a fox. WGA members write more than jokes and presentations for awards shows and late night guest programs. They also write the scripts that the actors depend on for jobs in upcoming features, MOWs, etc. The more pressure that is put on the producers, the faster the strike will be resolved, thereby insuring a quicker return to work for actors currrently on hiatus pending their next gig.

I think the actors are just stuck in the middle... this is really a sad case where the only loser is competition and the consumer. Actors can't get jobs without belonging to the SAG, and if they cross thos pickett lines, the SAG will destroy their careers faster than you can say "Now who was that actor who never gets work anymore?"

I don't see why these unions don't qualify as monopolys.

Anyway, the only remedy is to completely ignore anything they do, and be entertained elsewhere. Which is exactly what's going on here. So congrats iboats, you're part of the solution!

that will never happen, it is not an industry, that is required for our economy to survive. the advertising increases the cost of our goods. before television, we knew who our neighbors were. now we sit in front of a tv watching a person , act to be another person, or we sit in front of a computer and talk to someone one the otherside of the world, who we have not, nor will ever meet.

Nuh-uh, there was that lady in the news who left her 10 young kids alone to go meet and marry that guy in Africa that she met online.


I know, I know, this is one of those things where it wouldn't matter how much they were asking, it would get paid and we'll all end up footing the bill. You know, when you look at it like that though, how could you not side with the networks that aren't giving in to their demands?
