On Saturday I said goodbye to our old pontoon. I sold it and as part of the deal delivered it to its new home about 100 miles north.. For the $300 delivery charge I think he got the better of the deal. This was a 1992 Vibo 25' with a 1989 Nissan 90hp (really good motor btw).
The next chapter will start soon as I ordered a new pontoon last week to take its place. It will be 25' TMC 2500SE with 25" pontoons and vinyl flooring. I will be hanging a freshly rebuilt 115hp Evinrude on the back. I spec'd this boat out for ease of maintenance and carefree use. It should be ready around memorial day. The old one suffered from waterlogged wooden furniture frames, moldy and mossy carpet, and no cover. On this one, no wooden frames, no carpet, and it comes with a cover.
I was all charged up about rebuilding this old one from the toons up, but got lazy and figured I would probably blow a summer and fall doing it, and not get what I wanted when I was done.
My wife was quite surprised I sold it as it was, but it is going to a nice new family who are happy to have it.
Now for those who are curious about the boat brands, there have been a number of regional brands in my area. Vibo only made pontoons for short period of time, they now only make boat lifts and maybe docks. TMC has been around quite a while and in my area you see a lot of their boats on the water. It is largely factory direct and they are only 50 or so miles from my cabin.
