Sailmaster 8 lower unit comparability with 7.5

I have a 80’s 7.5 with a bad lower and potentially can buy a 90’s sailmaster for cheap. Are the lowers compatible? I’d prefer to put together one shirt shaft. Thank you

Should be the same.-----But check splines at top of shafts.------And check exhaust outlets on the gearcases.
