Salt Lake City?

I am moving to Salt Lake City soon. Any suggestions on where I should plan to go next season? I have a 18' bow rider ski boat.

Seems like there is a great big lake around there or something? It's supposedly really salty, but I think I'd have to try it at least once!

when we were into sale boats back in the "80"s we looked at some boats for sale on salt lake and some that had come off there.
between the brine flys and what that water does to a boat i wouldnt want any thing to do with it. if you do, i think it would pay to get a older boat to use on there and save a nice boat. there are boats on salt lake but for the size of the lake it seems like there would be more.
i know a lot of boats that store where we store, at offshore down at bullfrog, come from salt lake.
there allso seems to be a lot of salt lake boats at bear lake which srtaddles utah idaho border.

Like I said, I know it's very salty, but I'd just have to go out on it once or twice, cause it is stunningly beautiful from the shoreline. I'd kill to see it from the water.

Over 350 miles away to Page, AZ or Bullfrog, as near as my map program is routing it. But only 272 to Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Is that the place to go?

bullfrog is THE ramp on the north end for you. you can get a small boat in at hite,but with the lake level and pretty much at the inlet, spell muddy,+ not any closer. you can drive or ferry over to halls but you end up on the lake at pretty much the same place, drive around is farther and the ferry leaves from bull frog any way.

i just did a goolge eart seach and came up with 308 from SL to BF.
i'll trade you i'm 400
i can see if you lived in SL where you would want to try salt lake. if you clean up right after you come out and find a time when the brine flys arnt so bad you could have a good time.
if your into water sports you'll have to get a sled for the winter. they get top noch winter trail and mountain riding out here.

There are some good fresh water reservoir?s outside of SLC. My in-laws live in SLC, so last August during a visit to the area I set out to see why there are so many boats being towed around the city. Most people do not venture into the Salt Lake because they don?t want to deal with the salt issues. During my trip I visited Jordanelle, and Deer Creek Reservoir. Both lakes are large with full service marina?s. Both of these lakes are about 45 minutes east of SLC (other side of the Wasatch mountains), and a few minutes away from Park City. Because you are in snow skiing country, you do have to climb into the mountains to get to these reservoirs. Be sure your tow vehicle can climb steep mountain grades. To the North of SLC is Bear lake near Logan. Others have already mentioned Powell to the South. Powell is probably the warmest lake as the others are large Rocky Mountain lakes that are filled with melted snow. I am from AZ so I am a wimp when it comes to cold water, but I was shocked to see a lot of water sports going on at these cold fresh water lakes. The boating season in SLC is short due cold climate.
