salt water series

So i have two questions, does the saltwater series motors make that big of a difference when used in saltwater? are they just built heavier?

Fuel injection, what year/years did they start putting them on outboards?

Where I live, we have always considered every motor to be salt water. The fact that they are now trying to sell a "series" is disconcerting; they should all be built with the same quality--top quality--and the fact that they advertise a higher quality is a confession that they intentionally make a lesser quality.
