I was working today in my 1975 70 hp motor getting the carbs out for a rebuilt and also the water pump. Carbs went out ok, but the lower unit!!! Sweet Lord! That salt water can mess anything. It reminded me a post by another member where his mechanic would not work in his motor because it was used in salt water. Those bolts were not about to come out easy. The scary part is that you don?t know if what you are doing is messing the thread or actually taking the bolt out. All bolts are out but except of one that for whatever reason, the wrench that I used for the other 3 wont fit in this one. I tried to use a socket but there is not enough clearance for the ratchet. I will have to buy a cheapo 14mm socket and cut it in half or so in order to get the clearance I need.
