Saltwater Aft Flushing

2002 225 EFI<br />I flush the motor after each use. Don't know what the prev. owner did. it has a port on the back of the motor for flushing. I don't think this will flush through the power-head. Seems only to flush lower unit. Should I run om muffs for a better flush? If I use a product like Salt-away on muffs would it remove any buildup in the head?<br /> Thanks, Dead Eye

The flush port WILL flush the power head provided you have the engine running and the thermostats are open. I just returned from Florida and flushed one of the 200 Opti's that was with us. The owner was using muffs but the flush port does a much better job at getting the water through the engine. <br /><br /> The port is there for a reason. <br /><br />UFM82

I didn't think you could run the motor with water to the flush port only. Doesn't look you would get enough water through the small flush-out port.<br /> Dead Eye

This flush port, is it where the little boy pees from and you screw a garden like hose fitting in.??
