Re: Salvage titles- good or bad?

Rocky,I notice you're in Illinois. You can't title a salvage vehicle in illinois, without a "rebuilders" license. You"ll need a UDL first,$1000-Then you can get a rebuilders license[another $1000.] I'm retired from the used car business, just too many regulations and insurance is expensive too. I had a rebuilders license for years, back when it was only an extra $50 .
Look at seller ads for salvage vehicles from nearby states[like Wisconsin] on ebay. most will plainly state "no Ilinois bidders"
If you were to buy one,the only way would be to have a licensed body shop[with a dealers license and rebuilders license] buy it for you, repair it,have it inspected by the secretary of state police, and get a title. Then they could "sell" it to you. The "rebuilt" legend is on the title for life.
