I have just purchased a 30 hp for spares, after doing a search for the year of manufacture it is approx 5 years newer than the original one purchased with my small boat, now on the leg of the "spares" newer the exhaust exists directly from the leg in the casting.
But on the original one it has a plastic cover on the leg, can anyone tell me reason for the changes mainly to the leg, also the "spares" motor has a cdi ignition system, apart from these changes the motor seems identical.
I think the spares motor may have been an ex uk military engine due to some of the colour being matt green on the leg
