hi i have a 115hp mercury....(1986) there is a 90hp mercury ( same age ) for sale with a idle problem....... my question is are the parts the same. thinking of buying for spear parts . mine is a straight 6 and the 90hp is a straight 4 ???

They should both be I/line 6s the parts are basically interchangeable but the 90HP has different port timing than the 115

The only way to know which parts are the same is to go to the Mercury website and check the part numbers for both motors. Good luck!

Martin, Usually the 80 HP motors are inline 4 cylinder motors. Although some parts are common, obviously there are significant differences
