Who has Serrius or XM?

I just completed a demo of Serrius and I was thoroughly impressed.

I'm looking for a unit that can be used as a home, boom box and vehicle receiver. The unit I tried could do all three and was made by "Streamer".

Anyone else have any other units/options/opinions?

Re: Satelite Radio

I drive truck, and a lot of my friends have had it, and dropped it. Seems that there are many times no signal available, dropped signals, a lot like early cell phones. They felt not reliable enough to warrant the cost.

my brother in law has had both XM and sirrius and he said the xm is alot better the signal problem is due to a cheap antenna OR placement of it. I know alot of truck drivers have them inside the sleeper because the signal will pass through fiberglass but you do get some loss.

Re: Satelite Radio

Funny that this should come up for discussion. My buddy bought a Ford Explorer last week, yesterday he grabbed a little Sat radio (Sirrius)for it. It's about 1 1/2 the size of a pack of cigarettes, has plug-in antenna (on roof) and a power cord with a built-in RF transmitter which sends signal to the FM radio (also new). He said the unit was called a "Roady" (sp??)

I was impressed at the quality of sound and selection of channels. He said 15 bucks startup and 10 bucks a month.

DJ, in all honesty, I don't know which they had! There were three of them, and they all dropped the service though.

Xcusme,

The unit I demo'd was very similar. Pretty cool, IMHO.

DJ,
Yes, I thought it was a nice looking unit, really small too. My friend said he paid 100.00 , perhaps a few bucks more. It came with a small bracket to mount just about anywhere on the dash. He just unclips it, unplugs the power and antenna cables and puts it in his pocket. Since the unit transmits to any FM radio, he plans on getting another antenna and using it in his home. We had a chance to drive around with it for awhile, between tall buildings and under dense trees and never once lost the signal.
