Not sure about that stuff, but...I know from former research on the topic that Pro-Tec seems to be highly recommended as a Polymer Sealant for Gelcoat.

Finally ordered the gell .. Should be here by the end of the week ..
Still thinking about some color ... Maybe a splash of something on the topside . idk ...
Hoping to have it right side up by Thanksgiving .. Need to do a bit of trailer rehab but not too much .. Gunna use the trailer my dad had the MFG on ... Should work just fine .. A keel guard is also on the wish list before flip .. How do you know what length to get .. I assume it starts just under the bow eye a bit then runs the whole length of the keel ?

Keel guards arent that long, only from bow eye to part of keel you want (need?) to protect. I think typical guards are 4-8ft long, but iboats carries upto 11 or 12ft.

It seem like spraying Gel Coat and a good 2K primer are very similar. And that fact that you have to sand both afterward to get the desired finish makes it even more similar. It is just that Gel Coat can be tinted for different colors. :noidea:

I got a little worried there when you talked about getting goofy to mix the gel coat. I mean that could be me...then I see you were talking about the real Goofy from Mikeyville. ::nevreness:

Been called a lot worst though...

Only when I get him to look .... He's to busy playing video games and listening to bad music in his spare time ...

Very bored .... Waiting in a seemingly endless line at space mountain ..
Almost rather be grinding glass !
Good news ! Gell coat made it here . Can't wait to spray !
Gotta go . The line moved another 10 ft ...

WOW Sam, you must be bored to post from standing in line at Space Mountain. But I do know what you're talking about. I feel the same way doing such. You need to hurry home and post some spraying gel coat shots. :thumb:

Glad to be back home ... I started waiting in line on I-4 outside Orlando about 2 pm Friday and finally got out of line around 9 pm last night ..
So after the Jaguars game i started messing around with the new spray gun getting it set up .. Added another in line filter off the compressor about 25 ft ..
Shot some denatured alcohol through it .. The cup leaked a bit but figured out I had the little plastic washer upside down .. Seemed to stop after flipping it over ..
I have a little air leak that's coming from the quick connect coupling ... It's pretty old and has a bit of corrosion inside . I guess I should replace it with a new one ..

Sam what type gun are you using? I took my inline moisture filters and placed them in the oven at the lowest setting to dry them out. I was told to do that to make them usable again. And since the inside is merely desiccant I guess cooking any built up moisture out is a clever way to fix them.
I am waiting pictures of your spraying efforts now. ::pop2:

Pour some antifreeze into your filters and shake it around. Then Blow em out and let em dry for a few days. They'll work like NEW!!!!
I'd replace that fitting. That's where it leaked on my Paint Job and made Me cuss like a Sailor if you remember!!!:frusty:

Any one ever try xylene to cut poly resin ? I have a gallon laying around and thought I might use it for cleaning the gun after the gell .. Along with the acetone ...
Woody I do remember you being a little on the miffed side after those drips !
Gm . I think the plastic may melt if I were to bake them in the oven ..

And on a sad note . We also had to lay to rest a co-worker today.. "Dean" finally lost his battle with cancer ..
He was a great father ,grandfather , and friend .....
