Hi All,

Here’s a question for the experienced Merc outboarders on this forum. I herd this saying about Mercury outboards “Brown stripe bad, blue stripe good”. How true is this?

Boy, I hope it's not true, cause I've got a brown striper (82 115 HP inline six) and I love it!

Outrage,

Don't ever get rid of that motor!!! I have an '85 Black Max 150 and love it. Burns only 6.5 gals/hr at 4200!! IF it ever goes up, I'm gonna rebuild and not replace.

Brian

Thanks gw204 read my post from earlier this morning titled Not A Pretty Picture. This is the first good word I’ve heard about this engine. I’m going to rebuild but would like to isolate the cause first.
