well, i just found this forum, so I thought I would join. My name is Tom, I have been boating most of my life. Today, I just picked up my new boat...... Well new to me.

I purchased a project boat, its a 1992 Pursuit 2150 Express. The hull is flawless! The previous owner thinks that the motor and possibly the drive are no good. The boat was last run 3 years ago, and was not properly winterized. Im guessing that I will need to pull the motor and the drive. As for the motor, its a FWC 4.3V6 merc w/600hrs. The drive is a Alpha 1 gen II.

I currently have a FWC MPI 270 hp 5.7 w/400 hrs, and alpha 1 drive that I have sitting at my friends shop its from an old boat that I used to own. As far as the re power goes, I think that I have most of what I need. there looks to be plenty of room in the engine bay to comfortably fit the V8 in place of the V6.

I look forward to talking and learning form you guys here.

Thanks
Tom

Re: saying hello!

thanks guys for the warm reception. I am towing the boat over to my buddy's shop tomorrow.

I plan on pulling all the old electronics and related wiring tossing that mess. 3 years of sitting in the weather, not worth trying to save.

I will then start dismantling the and scrubbing the cabin, then the cockpit.

If I have time, Iwill start to look at the motor and drive.

I am guessing that I will be doing a full rewire on the boat aswell. I want no gremlins when I hit the water.

Re: saying hello!

thats the plan. I am surprised i dont have 3 million pics yet. but I did not get it home until after dark.

Some how, in the snow and ice, and darkness, I did find time to start to play with it.

I pulled the fish finder, laran, and VHF. I didnt touch the wiring at all yet.

I took out all of the cusions from the V-berth and the life vests. I also pulled the outriggers, very nice I must say. they are 16' schaefer out riggers. I will be keeping them though I am not much of a salt water fisherman. I am more of a diver and day boater. that will be the duty of the boat with me. i do however have some friends that are into salt water fishing, so the outriggers will come in handy at some point.

I will be starting the post over the in the resto section now.

thanks and I am patiently waiting the spring!

Tom
