Can someone help out Joe here?

Joe is a very knowledgeable contributor to our Johnson and Evinrude topics area.

Joe Reeves
OMC Guru
Member # 6826

posted January 28, 2004 09:48 AM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd like to think that I've helped a couple or so boaters on this site, and hopefully someone here can help me out. A scanner of mine (Mustek 1200 III EP) blew out its power adaptor. If one of you have one that you would part with, I'd like to know about it via my e-mail address so as not to tie up the site.

The power adaptor is as follows:
--------------------

YHi Power Adaptor
Model: YC-1015-15
Input: 100-120v-60Hz-0.45A
Output: +15VDC/1A

--------------------
JB.... I know this is being placed in the wrong classification area. Move it if need be. Thanks.

--------------------
Joe (30+ Years With OMC)

ReevesJ32@aol.com

If Xcusme can't find one you can buy a universal adapter almost any where (certainly radioshack) it allows you to set the voltage and select the proper plug.

Note, on the back of the scanner and/or on the original adapter it will tell you the needed voltage, wheter AC or DC, and show you the polarity of the plug (i.e., whether the center and outer conductors are + or - )

Certainly - just keep an eye on the 1A out as many Universal adaptors can't cope with this.

Re: Scanner Part Needed.

Most of the one's I've seen are only rated at around 300ma (1/3 amp)....intended more of a battery replacement option, and don't have any voltage regulation either.

True. Look for a regulated adaptor that copes with 1A at 15v, constant supply.

As our power supply is 220-230v I can't suggest any device from experience but they're out there, for sure.

Battery chargers (often for digital cams etc.) has the specs. One (hi priced) is Ansmann ATPS2324. It accepts input 100-240v @ 50-60hz and delivers 2.3A @ up to 24v.

I think you'll have to find a regulated one. Notice how light the one you've got is? It's a minature switching power supply in adapter case, with no bulky iron core transformer. If I wasn't using mine it would be in the mail already.

Bubakat - If that's the 15v one it will work. The 12v 1.25A one (also Mustek and a million other names) won't for him. I guess you end up with striping if you try.

Sorry Joe, the transformers I have turned out to all be 12V models. :(
