Re: School Project Research help Us Out With Your Personal Expeirences

Boat is almost always covered
exceptions - camping and it is sitting in the water for a few days, and ususlly the day after the trip to dry out from the rain on the way home.

Cover takes 5-10 minutes to put on, and less to remove.

Hey Josh -

1) C
2) N/A
3) N/a
4) It's kept in an interior storage building (high & dry storage)

P.S. - Unless you've made changes, I don't see any spelling errors, and neither did MS Word's spellchecker.... ;)

1-How often do you cover your boat?
a)after every use B)when it is convenient c)never

2-How long does it take on average to cover your boat?
A)5-10 min. B)less then 5 min

3-How long do you feel is an appropriate length of time for covering your boat?

4-Under what conditions would you not cover your boat? Why?

1-a/b = usually covered at night, left uncovered between multiple uses during the day
2-b
3- 5 minutes. If high winds or storm is expected, I will take longer to secure the cover vs relying on elastic around its edge (semi-custom cover)
4- a) If I use it in the evening , expect to use it the next morning, and the weather is clear and dry.
b) If I store it in the garage (if I'm going to be away a week or more). Then it's uncovered with all hatches propped open so everything can dry thoroughly.

Your answers to these questions will help us justify our problem statement for our senior engineering project.

1-How often do you cover your boat?
a)after every use B)when it is convenient
c)never

I have three boats.
One is covered after every use and takes less than 5 minutes which seems appropriate.
One is never covered.
One has seats covered after every use and bimini stowed and covered.

4-Under what conditions would you not cover your boat? Why?

The other two boats do not get covered because I do not have covers for them at this time.

1-How often do you cover your boat?
Answer - a)after every use (except as noted in question 4)

2-How long does it take on average to cover your boat?
Answer - B)less then 5 min

3-How long do you feel is an appropriate length of time for covering your boat?
Answer - Depends on the size of the boat. Mine are 16 foot and 5 minutes is reasonable.

4-Under what conditions would you not cover your boat?
Answer - If the inside of the boat is wet, and I know that the weather will be dry for a few days, I usually leave the cover off until the interior has a chance to dry. Other reasons would be if I were going to go out again and know the weather will be dry until the next outing I may leave it off. Other than that I most always put the cover on.

Ditto. I'm the same. For 3, mine is 17 ft, and approx 4-5 mins to cover.

1-How often do you cover your boat?
Always- too many cats in the neighborhood.

2-How long does it take on average to cover your boat?
Alone- 5 minutes (snapon cover only) 10 with travel cover
With help- 5 minutes for both
3-How long do you feel is an appropriate length of time for covering your boat?
5-10 min.

4-Under what conditions would you not cover your boat? Why?
Always covered. Only snap on when using it soon, but travel cover if stormy or longer sitting time. I once removed the cover and found a dead cat on the seat (different boat- it's hard to seal a tarp around an outboard motor), so I always cover it now.
