Thanks Red.

By the way, you bring up a good point. Does anyone know what type of metal the bolt should be made of? To minimize the possibility of later corrosion I would like to put the same type of bolt back. Assuming that I can't just order a replacement bolt from the Johnny/Rude dealer.

Re: Score: Boat 1, Trailer 1, Me 1

Wow, I can't believe I did it! I was ready to take this thing to the shop when the $50 bolt-out/screw-out set didn't move the broken bolt in my intake manifold. All it did was chew up 1/4" of the bolt before I stopped (taking it back to Sears tomorrow).

So I called my uncle and he gave me a few words of encouragment, and a few more tips on how to use the old fashion easy-outs (had a set sitting on my shelf).

When I got home from work I tried what I learned here plus what he told me and presto, the bolt backed out after my first try!

What a relief. Now I just have to find replacement bolt. From the way the bolt shredded as I drilled it I think it may have been an aluminium bolt, would it be ok to replace it with a stainless steel bolt instead?

Your best bet is to replace it with the OEM bolt.

The OE bolts are stainless steel.

OK, so I found a suitable SS bolt at Lowes, bolted the throttle bodys/carbs back on and headed to the river to test.

Got past the No Wake and opened her up, she's running great now at WOT! No hesitation at all. Score: 1 for me

Thanks to Dhadley, jimd, voodoo, redxfred, hooty, alumistar, rdav13, walker, stairliftofheaven, joe reeves, ob,rickdboat, and anyone else I may have missed.

After replacing some parts I am still having charging problems, but I will continue that problem in another post.
Score: 1 for the boat

Lastly, a bunk board fell off my trailer when I took the boat to the river to test. Score: 1 for the trailer ;)
