Re: Scotch...

I drink Glenlivet, 18yo, and only neat. I always have it on hand...don't care for any blended scotch...

Re: Scotch...

Isn't Scotch made from filling a dirty sweatsock with bull urine and squeezing out the "squeezings."

Sorry, I hate Scotch but love Bourbond:)d:)

That's why it's expensive. Try getting a bull to pee in a sweatsock.

Scotch taste like Lumber. No matter what kind to me. Weither its Scorsby or Dewars Blue I think it all tastes bad. Now give me a Knob Creek on the rocks or Woodford's Reserve if they have it.

Any good Scotch or whiskey should be straight up to enjoy the flavor, if you need something sweet you might as well drink a sweet wine highball with the grils

Re: Scotch...

I agree on neat, but whether it is a fine Single Malt or a blend (there are some high end blends that are wonderful) I still prefer rocks. I don't use any additional water just the melt . . .

High-end blends that I have tried: Johnny Walker Green Label, Johnny Walker Blue Label, Chivas Royal Salute (I have never bought these, better to find a neighbor to do that . . . )

I still prefer Single Malts, but these deserve praise as well. In reference to Skiuseme's lumber comment. I like the strong Peat flavored Scotches, Laphroaig being my favorite, but Talisker and Ardbeg are very Peaty as well. These basically taste like a campfire, so maybe you meant burnt lumber. Mmmmmmmm . . .

Aldo,

Scotch is pretty expensive in the UK. I have found some great deals in Duty Free when the exchange rate favors us (it doesn't now . . . ). However, whether it is Australian Wine or Scotch or whatever, it is hard to beat Beverages and More:BevMo Single Malts

Ohhhhh, yum, and I was gonna go to bed . . .

You might try soda for variety. Some people like Rusty Nails which is Scotch and Drambuie, but Scotch is fun just trying Single Malts neat, rocks or soda. There are so many different ones, it's just about preference and variety. Years ago I hated MacCallan for example, thought it tasted like Bourbon, now it's a favorite. I guess tastes change. Generally I do prefer mine rocks, but If I were you I'd skip any flavored mixers . . .

hmmm rusty nails are my favourite the best I have tasted is Glayva and jonnie walkers black label with ice
whisky and water is a no no .so is soda ,cola or any mixers. the taste depends on many factors ie is the grain roasted with peat or what type of port barrels are used to age it even being aged in a bond near the sea ..Talisker whiskey from the isle of skye is a good example of a peaty whisky aged for 12 years next to the sea that gains its light colour from the port barrels and not caramel colouring used in cheap brands. I love scotch but then I am biased
