I am acquiring a good running 10hp S.A. This motor is very clean. The only thing I need is the fuel line hook-up. I am not sure what fitting needs to be used to hook up to the motor. The serial number is 38853628. I don't have the model number as I forgot to grab it. Any help would be great. Thanks!

The first 4 numbers 3885 are the model number. The fuel connector is unique to Scott-Atwater. Try a free want ad at the Antique Outboard Motors Club website, aomci.org

In the meantime, you can just stick the hose onto the motor-side connector.

Where is the side connector located? I haven't purchased the motor yet...just wanting to get all my facts straight on it before I do...

Also what year is this motor?

It is a 1958. By motor-side I merely meant the fuel connector on the motor to distinguish it from the fuel connector on the tank hose.

Ok...cool, is this the same as a McCulloch 3885? It was written on the motor plate that it was manufacturered by McCulloch. For the hose I can just use a hose clamp and it should be fine? Is this a pump or primer type of engine? Can I use any type of tank? Sorry for all the questions...and I appreciate your time...I just want to make absolutely sure I have my facts straight.

Thanks,

McCulloch bought out Scott-Atwater. Any generic outboard tank and hose will work. They sell them here at iboats the big Mart store. You will need a hose with a primer bulb in it. Yes, just clamp it to the fuel connector prong. Once you prime it with the bulb, a fuel pump on the motor takes over and keeps it supplies it with gas to run.

Re: Scott Atwater Motor

I have a Scott-Atwater motor - I have a serial number 33553181 - 7.5 hp- 4.250 rpm - model number ???

Would like to acquire a manual for this motor.

Also have a question about the automatic bail out. I have heard that they burn out due to water not being ran through to bail. If there is no water to bail what happens, I do not want this to burn up - if that statement is true.

Thanks

If you have a pic of what it looks like I might be able to hook you up.
