I have some light scratches on the side of my boat . The scratches are from the boat rubbing against the bumper while at dock. I have graphics on the side of my boat and I believe the scratches are not in the gelcoat but the graphics on the side. Here is a picture of my boat. The boat is white and the red is more of a wrap then paint or gelcoat. If I wet the scratches they disappear. If I use wax it will make the scratch white and will stand out against the red. I can’t wet sand or use compound as it might damage the graphics. Does anyone know of a product I can use? new boat.gif

I can see how the tire gel would work. It would be like wetting the scratches. I'll give it a try.

I got lazy and cheap and simonize foaming tire cleaner was on sale and it works well on plastics etc also.Actually I saw the tire gel trick in a atv mag also and they swore by it.Along the same line is to use a good quality auto wax on your atv or boat windshield to prevent scratches and acts as a barrier against bugs sun etc.

I knew about the wax on the windshield. I worked in a auto dealership detailing new cars. We used furniture spray wax for the windows, no streaks every time. Thanks for the info.

There are colored car waxes out there, I know Turtle wax is one brand. I used some a few years ago on some light blue metallic, and it worked great. Yeah, it's just a bandaid, but you guys wax your boat all the time anyway, so... :)

I have a black Cadillac Fleetwood and I use the black wax on it. Every scratch will show if I don't. If y IMG_0419.JPG ou look at this car the wrong way it will scratch.
