Nor I.If you asked the lying native "which way to the friendly camp he would simply lie and point you toward his camp.

The correct question to direct the hiker to the safe camp would be to ask either ,"which way to your camp?"

Johnny always had $30. Put it this way.
Johnny had $30 and gave $1 each back leaving $27. He gave himself $3 of the rebate and gave $2 to Suzy. He has $30 again.

What is so hard to understand about that?

CD

OB, good answer!

OB, I'm don't see your logic. If you ask a native which way to his camp, the cannibal would simply direct you to his camp and you get eaten. I don't get it

OB according to your story, the logic as I see it is this; you gave two examples of human characteristics. No person will ever admit to cannibalism unless he is a cannibal.

So if I stumble upon a camp and don't know whether the camp is friendly or cannibal, i woulld ask, (are you from the friendly camp down the road)?
If the person I am asking says yes, then he is lying because he is in the wrong camp therefore would have been eaten. If he says no then the friendly camp is down the road and I will keep moving.

Re: Scratching my head on this one.

You missed one critical detail of the scenario. The cannibal camp natives always lie.Soooooo,If you ask the cannibal native ,"which way to your camp?" he points you toward the friendly camp option of the fork in the road. And of course if you ask the friendly native ,he will also point you toward his(the safe camp) since they always tell the truth.

Your question above is exactly why you can't ask the question as you put it because there remains only a 50/50 chance of you arriving at the safe camp. The hiker supposedly does not know whether he is talking to the liar or the truthful native.

Get it now?I'm fresh out of expalnations. d:)

It ain't my logic. It's an old riddle and the answer to it is the question I provided.I'll admit ,it is a brain twister. That's why I thought it might be fun to post.
