Scum / Water line on glass boat

Out on my favorite lake today with my new boat, now I have this brown line all the way around the boat. What do I wash it with to remove this line ? Can I prevent this from hapening again ? I never owned a fiberglass boat before. What kind of care do I need to do to it? Thanks, Dave

I've always had great results with Simple Green all-purpose. It's non-toxic and can be found almost anywhere. It comes in a variety of sizes, not just the small spray bottle seen in this link...

any cleaner with a degreaser will work. the scum line is mostly cause by pollution in the water. especially around the ramps. also keeping the area waxed makes it easier to come off.

i don't think ya can stop the scum line from happening. use boat wax on yer boat. always wash the scum line off after use. it'll come right off with soap and water. if ya wait and let it build up a time or two it'll be harder to come off, but it will still come off with soap and water. let it build up for a long time and ya'll need muriatic acid to get it off. also use a boat wash soap. reg. soaps will remover yer boat wax faster than boat wash soap.......

Simply Wipping the hull down with a wet rag works,......
If you do it Right when the boat is hauled.........
