Sea Foam/Deep Creep questions

I usually don't fall for snake oil sales pitches unless i check a bit deeper and actually have a definite need for the item; so I was surprised at myself when I got so awed by the rave reviews that Sea Foam products get in here ....for decarb/cleaning... that on impulse, I just went out and bought a spray can of Deep Creep before I winterised my three O/B engines..
I ended up not using the Deep Creep and just did my normal procedure because I was actually not sure what the product is really for ...(so why did I buy it?. should this go in SHT ? :))

The questions:
1) Is there a role for Deep Creep in winterising?
2) The decarb process...says that you add to gas and spray in carb....do I have the right product here? i.e. do you need two Sea Foam products for this? one for the gas and one to spray ~ or just one and not the one that I bought..:)?
3) If not 2), where should I be using this product?

Re: Sea Foam/Deep Creep questions

You would have a hard time finding anyone with anything bad to say about Sea-Foam, yes it works and works very well.

Deep Creep is Sea Foam in a can, they are the same thing and yes for a decarb you need the pourable kind and that too does work.

I used it in my truck before pulling the manifold and was very suprised to see how well it did work.

So next spring do the decarb and I think you will be very pleased with the results and as stated be ready for a ton of smoke when you do it.

As to winterizing I don't know if you can use deep creep for that or not.

Ayuh,...

Are we talking 2 stroke Outboards, or 4 stroke automotive type motors....

For 4 stroke motors,...
You can't beat plain ole Water for Decarbing.....
A 12oz. soda bottle, full, poured down the throat of the carb, with the motor spinnng about 1500 or so....;)

Re: Sea Foam/Deep Creep questions

as said the seafoam and the deep creek are the same product. deep creep is just pressurize can. the product is like an enema for you motor, it breaks down carbon deposits, and all the other crud, and either burns it or spit it out the exhaust... it has been known to clean and free up rings, and increase compression, on questionable motors. also it is recommended to add seafoam to your fuel after cleaning your carb. it will not clean a 2 stroke carb, but will keep a clean carb clean.

this is the process i use.
Decarb, take a can of seafoam put 3/4 of it in the gas tank, with only 1 gallon of premixed gas. put the rest in a spray bottle. start the engine, and let it come up to temperature. then remove plugs, and them some real good shot of seafoam into the cylinders, replace plugs, let sit 15 minutes. restart, and spray the rest of the seafoam into the carbs, so the the motor almost stalls, wait and repeat until the seafoam is gone.then take for a wide open spin. then put in new plugs, ad premixed gas to the tank, and take it for a wide open throttle spin. it is going to smoke like a house on fire, during this process.

afterwards compression.recheck

Re: Sea Foam/Deep Creep questions

We use the Sea Foam in both of oour trucks, and our Mustang.

I put a 1/2 can of it in the fuel, of our boat this year, prior to winterization.

It is a 5.0 inboard. It only has 24 hours on it. I wondered how often a person should use it during the year?? -OR- should a person use it year long. With a new engine, would it help fight corosian, etc. within the engine from the start ?? (I know a dumb question, ........... right ?? )
