Someone gave me a pair of craftsman chainsaws (actually made by McCulloch) that were in sad shape. That was 5 years ago.
The guy said one ran and would not stay running and the other would not run at all. I tossed them into the shed and forgot about them until yesterday. I took them apart and started to "un-seize" the moving parts and the oiler assembly. Removed the plug and flooded it with sea foam. Sea foamed the carb, the fuel lines and all the moving parts. The re-coils did not work - vert stiff and would not rewind - sea foamed those too.
Let it sit overnight and pulled it about a dozen times to clear the cylinder and the carb, installed a fresh spark plug and re-assembled the entire saw. Fresh gas and oil......
Started first pull and runs like a top! Cut up a few trees that a storm had deposited for me and no complaints.
Amazing what a little maintenance will do.
