Hi,

I need to know where the rod that is connected to the throttle lever goes. The other rod that goes from the bottom of the float bowl goes where? the inside hole?

It looked like the upper rod hooked into the outer hole of the throttle lever and the other went in the inside hole, but it jams.

Please go into detail on how they hook into the holes or where ever.

I looked though some out books but nothing was said.

A picture would be great. My email is ba_50@yahoo.com. Thanks.

!5GG doesn't mean anything without the rest of the number.there is a 3 hp ,5 hp and 12 hp.The other problem is I don't see a 10 hp anywhere in my book.
If the motor has a spark lever and a tiller throttle control. The tiller controls the carb throttle lever.I think the rod from the bottom of the carb either goes to a mixture knob or
a primer knob which could also double as the mixture knob. Its possible it doesn't connect directly to the mixture knob. The knob may have a tab that moves the lever when you turn the knob to the extreme in one direction.
Sorry I can't be more specific as I am trying to remember
the old Elto 12 I used to run as a kid 50+ years ago.

I also can't find a 10 with a GG. GG means it's made by Gale (an offshoot of Johnson/Evinrude). Swap the 15 around any you have the model year of 1951. Generally speaking, linkages tend to use the outermost hole.

This is from a 1956 12, best I could do.

Hi again,

Steelspike, what you said about the type of choke made a light go off.

WillyBeWright, thanks for the diagram but its not the same one.

Anyhow I got to checking the choke and it is controlled by a big knob in front. Than I realized that the choke connection was on the left side of the carb. So one rod went over there. That made it easy to connect the throttle cable to the right or throttle plate side.

This motor operates different than anything I've ever used. The slide lever on front moves the magneto for low and high speed in combination with the throttle on the end of the arm just like most do.

It turns out that the spark pulg lead screw had pulled loose and wasn't making solid contact all the time.

I sure learned a lot.

If you guys want more detailed information I'd be happy to try and explain it.

It is a 15GG 1566-9018

I thought this motor would be sitting around for 6 months before I figued it out but lucked out. Had a bad day yesterday so should have walked away from it.

Thanks for the help.

15GG9018A is a 1951 12Hp, equivalent to a 12D10 Gale.

I think that is like the Elto we had when I was 8 or 10 56-58 and a lot like the old Goodyear my grandfather had for many years starting about 1959.The Goodyear had full shift but otherwise was same design as the Elto.I wonder if that spark/throttle setup is similar to the Evunrude 14 from 50-52.
