Sea King Question

i have a 12ft aluminum Sea King. EXCELLENT condition. not a ding or scratch on it. ive replaced the seats and put polyuerathane* on them. not sure the year of it but its not too old. maybe between 90 and 95. just wondering how much i could sell it for. btw it doesnt come with trailer. its too light for a trailer haha.

I haven't seen any Sea Kings that new but I bought a near mint 1989 Duranautic 12' with no motor or trailer for $200 this time last summer, and a buddy just bought a mint clean Starcraft 14' with a Mercury 9.8 hp and trailer for $650.
Do a search on Craigslist and see what others in your area are selling for.
12' boats are generally a lot cheaper than 14' or 16' boats, mostly due to the lesser weight capacity. (Two big guys and a motor plus gear is pushing your luck in most 12' boats).

Sea Kings were a boat sold by montgomery wards. unless some pick up the name, they have not been built in decades.

We had a Sea King with matching Sea king 9.9 for many years. It was extremely light and was meant to strap on top of the car which made it more desirable when selling used. For fun when I was young, I would put my 18hp on it and go a lot faster than it was ever intended. I would be very suprised if it was anywhere in the 90's. I think ours was mid 70'sish. Sorry I can't be of any help on the asking price, I just haven't thought about that boat in years.

yea i wasnt sure about the year at all. i bought it at a garage sale for $100 with a 1/2 hp cruise n' carry motor. pushed it good enuff for the river. yea i understand 2 full grown men and gear is def pushing it for a 12ft. i was jw cuz i have a friend that wants to buy it and i want to get my moneys worth cuz this boat is in perfect shape, thats why i was sayin 90-95 for a year. i didnt kno it was that old. yes montgomery ward made it. so if anyone could give me a ballpark price that would be great. btw it comes with the 1/2hp haha that motor is sooooo small haha looks and runs like its brand new!

If it's truly that clean, I'd have to say it's got to be worth at least $400, with the motor. I'd figure the motor would bring about $200 if you sold it alone if it too is super nice.

That said, I tried a 3 hp once on a 12' boat and thought it was way too small with two guys, I could paddle faster, and that was a Tanaka 3 hp.
With a 6 hp Johnson that boat moved nicely, and would plane out really well with a 9.9 hp.

Well, if you sold it for 100 bucks and you used it already then you would be getting your "moneys worth" wouldn't you? If I were selling to a friend then I would give them a good deal on it rather than trying to get top dollar for it. I'm not saying you should sell it for a hundred but you could certainly sell it for two, double your money, and pass on a good deal to a friend

A 12' aluminum boat with no trailer and no outboard goes for from $200-300 where I am, if it's really nice.

I bought my 12' Sea King for $300 with a trailer. Both needed work.

Remember, if you sell it to your friend for more than it's worth, pretty soon he'll figure that out and you won't have the boat OR the friend.

Anyway, I would think the boat is worth at least $300 maybe like $500 tops in primo shape. However, I would think that doubling your money ($200) is about as much one would be able to profit in good conscience. If you paid $400, I would say charge him $400; $200 is still such a good deal for a cherry boat that shouldn't come between friends, and you did put some work and time into it. So asking $200 from him should not come between you at all...
