We started to rehab an 1963( I think) 40 hp sea king last summer and we got it running good, but when we got it out this year it seems to not be pumping water. It was stored inside for the harsh parts of winter and was pumping water strong at the end of last season im kind of at a loss of where to start with it. Every thing on this boat is original except for a few things I would realy like to keep it that way and not have to put a new motor on it. Any healp would be greatly apreciated. :(

Re: Sea King

It is possible the impellar has shrunk or the vanes have just given in to old age. I would check the water pump system.

Re: Sea King

Drop the lower unit and check the water pump. It cheap and easy to do. If you have not checked and replaced the water pump impellor, it is possible one or more vanes have broken off due to age...

Re: Sea King

Interesting how someone could rehab an outboard, and not have a clue on how to drop the lower unit....
