Re: Sea Kittens

Ha. I just don't know any more, go out all day catch, a bunch of fish 1/2 inch under size limit throw them back.

3/4 are gonna die, but i don't want to set a bad example for the kid. 1/2 inch is like 6 inch's it's under size, it's under sized.

So i get maybe one thats over the size limit. Maybe all day fishing one fish ok.

Commercial fishing boat had 6 inch limit smaller then me. Why?

And maybe it is just me, the fish is there, bio mass this and that.

Some number somebody came up with that means nothing. Junk science.

Doesn't just end there, now anybody who wants to run a boat anywhere, has to get a lic.

Guess what a lic. gonna cost money, and can be revoked.

So a bunch of people get together that eat tofu and nothing else, says were gonna do it smart, first limit how many they can keep till they get tired of fishing.

Then were gonna limit the commercial guy. Till he can't make a living.

Never mind a whole industry is ruined the little fishy ain't gonna get it's feelings hurt.

Woa why limit it to fishing, were gonna pressure the political machine with threats that we are gonna vote you out.

The political machine ain't hearing nothing from the fisherman and hunters so he says to himself, self i like being a senator, all the free booze and money i'm gonna do what the loudest voices ask me to do.

Well we stopped em here in NJ for now, but for how long till they get their way.

Ok it would be easy for me to stop, too easy, but like i posted before and it was a valid point, cause it already came to pass, we have to be just as vocal as them or guess what you ain't gonna be able to fish no more.

So last word cause you called ME out, cheburashka, i don't care what you do, i don't care who you do it to, so let me do what i want, and i won't tell you what to do.

Liberal, conservative, let me just hunt, and fish. And let my kids do the same.

Darn. I thought this thread was about putting kittens in a burlap bag with a brick and throwing them overboard...... Instead, it turned into something even more gruesome...

Yep. You just shoot whatever you want, and maybe God will come down out of heaven and make some more of 'em for you when you've killed them all off, like he did with the Passenger Pigeon and the Dodo.

You really think limits make no sense? Why do you think you're catching so many fish 1/2" under the limit? What do you think would happen if they lowered the limit by 1/2" for everyone? Within ten years, you'd catch nothing but fish 1/2" under that limit too. You think the scientists made the fish go away?

This whole "these rules don't make sense" and "it's all junk science" trip you're on may play well at the dinner table at your house, but when you put it up in a public forum, you're going to get called out.

This was a discussion about PETA, and pretty much everyone knows they're a bunch of whack jobs. You made it into a discussion of everything that makes you cranky this week, and that doesn't fly.

Re: Sea Kittens

There are those who want to regulate the world "to death," and there are those that think any regulation at all is an affront to humanity. Both are wrong.

Sensible regulations can protect the environment, without becoming so onerous that they do more harm than good. I remember a time when striped bass were abundant in Long Island Sound and Block Island Sound. Not that many year laters, when I was in my late teens and early 20s, I remember that they had become scarce, because of pollution in the rivers that they needed for spawning. At about the same time, a number of environmental regulations were put into place, to prevent industry from polluting those rivers. One of the good results of that effort, was the return of stripers to the waters of southern New England.

I think that the point here is that, even those of us who tend to be somewhat liberal, and of a conservationist mentality, don't particularly like PETA. The group doesn't use common sense and is so "out there" with its agenda, that it actually does itself more harm than good. Personally, I hope it stays as radical as it is. If so, very few people will take the group seriously.

In the mean time, let's protect the natural areas that we have. Let's not pollute them, over-fish them, or let others ruin this precious resource. All it takes is a reasoned approach and a reasoned set of rules.

So now all fish will be the offspring of catfish? What will we call the dogfish? Will we need new laws about aggressive breeds for them?

Hmm.

I posted this because I though it was amusing and did not mean to start a political debate.

Having said that, if you have the chance and desire to watch the Penn & Teller show (the show is titled B***s**t) on PETA, you will see that they go far beyond what we think and even consider the owning of pets (dogs, cats etc.) as something they would ban, given the chance.

And they are more than a bunch of kids.

But back to the regularly scheduled posting. Let's keep it funny :)

Re: Sea Kittens

when i first saw this i thought it was a joke.

are people really that stupid?!

these people who come up with this stuff should be examined by a psychiatrist.

i mean really "friendship" among fish...........maybe these people need to go hang out at the pet shop and see how many tricks they can teach mans new best friend.

sorry if i have offended anyone...............but we have people starving all over the world and believe it or not a lot are in the usa.................if these people really want to do good there are other ways to spend valuable time, money, and resources.

im sure we can all agree----we need rules and regulations........but i bet most of these people have never even caught a fish much less held one.

what are these people proposing we eat?............seems they want to protect everything.

where are we supposed to get all this room and food for all these things they dont want us to eat?

one more gripe-------why are the state and county fairs still running the "ping pong toss" if protecting fish is so important?.................think about how many gold fish never even lived to get to the parking lot, much less make it home to play fetch:D:D.......tragedy ..pure tragedy!

Re: Sea Kittens

19 inch's for a flattie fish is the limit. My apology, is in order.

Came back from 2 meeting concerning the limit size they are proposing in Raritain Bay.

This week is bad, bad news for recreational fisherman up and down the Eastern seaboard.

Look for 20-21 inch size limits this year.

Never bagged a Dodo bird, wonder how they taste.

Once again i should have kept it light. But the news doesn't get out till it's to late.

"Paying attention to them only gives them power--kind of like Ann Coulter"

At least she has common sense and facts on her side, not liberal feelings, that cost us rights and gives power to those who "do as I say, Not as I do crowd" Never ignore a potential enemy, we did that to Hitler in WW2 and look how many millions of people died because we ignored him until it was too late.

I couldn't agree more. Watch that Coulter woman very, very closely. She could be a subversive fascist.

Sorry, but I couldn't read the rest of the stuff you wrote through the tofu I spurted out all over the screen. That's the funniest thing I've seen all day.
