If you're looking for those specific frames then you'll probably have to go to Ebay.

Thanks guys!

I kinda panicked when I saw that first set, and their price.

I would have panicked too! I've found that googling whatever item you are looking for will reveal the best price. That must be a typo on the iboats ad, but sometimes it's amazing the difference in prices for the same item. Good luck!

Tiller Bracket.

Tiller Bracket.

I have an old aux outboard bracket on the boat I bought for it's motor.

When I stripped the paint, my boat had JB welded holes for one of these brackets. (and I'd like to add a kicker at some point anyhow)

Problem is the thing needs cleaned up. So I was planning to sandblast it-it does have some rust. What would be the best way to paint/finish this bracket? I'm sure I saw rust, but all the new brackets are aluminum.
I already have this one, so I would like to use it.

I swear I didn't see that before.

In the meantime anyone have the formula for figuring horsepower that take length and width into consideration?

Re: Tiller Bracket.

Thanks. Wonder why such a big difference in HP for tiller vs remote steer boats?
And I wonder how/why that hasn't changed since the introduction of the tiller power steering setups.

BTW using that formula on a 2012 Lund Pro Guide 2010 you find that the HP rating should be 210. Lund lists it as 200. BUT that is with a tiller steer engine, not remote.
In the HP ratings it says 200hp with hyd. assist steering. 115 without it.

I wonder if hyd assist steering on a tiller powered boat is considered remote steering?

Reason for all this is eventually I want to put a 115 on this boat, as a tiller. But, I have no HP tag on the boat. I need to try and get a new one from Lowe boats I guess.

Following the formula they list the boat is OK with up to 130hp.

Re: Tiller Bracket.

Any ideas/comments on if hydraulic assist steering on a tiller engine equates to remote steering in the USCG formula??

The hydraulic assist tiller are NOT CONSIDERED remote steer by the Coast Guard,...

As of now the only tiller system classified as a "remote steer" is the proprietary system Warrior Boats uses,...

I wonder how Lund is able to get the 200hp rating?

I looked up warrior boats and didn't come up with anything. They apparently went out of business, and are back in business, but a small shop, and website.

Anymore info on the system Warrior uses?

At this point I'm just looking, asking based on curiosity. I'm going to go against popular opinion on this one, and eventually install a 115 tiller, even though the boat would only be rated for a 130 as REMOTE steer.

Re: Tiller Bracket.

The Warrior tiller system is a true remote hydraulic steering system where the driver uses the throttle on the tiller handle and has a joystick to operate the hydraulic steering which technically makes it "remote",....Look them up on Facebook,....They did go out of business a couple of years ago but have been purchased and are back at it, One of the new owners is Steve Anderson who was a Warrior boat sponsored Professional Walleye Trail angler and I think there will some really cool things coming in the future for them,...https://www.facebook.com/pages/Warrior-Boats-Inc/127175744056376

The Merten Power Tiller System which was developed by Tim Merten allows the driver to use the throttle on the tiller handle as well as using sensors in the handle the actuate the power tiller steering,.........The Merten system was purchased by Mercury Marine and is now only available on new Mercury's unless you can find a dealer with "new old stock" that you could maybe use on another motor,..

I think Tim Merten is still making a "power tiller assist",...http://www.enginesteer.com/testimonials.shtml

Lund get's to use the 200 horsepower because the "2010" tiller is 20 feet 10 inches long, Because it is over 20 feet 6 inches there are different rules for boat manufacturers,...

I wouldn't go with higher horsepower than the rating plate as it could open you up to liability issues in case of an accident,...

A newer 90 horse tiller should be more than adequate on a 17 foot boat,....In all reality a 75 horse two stroke would be good,....
