HI i have a problem whit the fuelpump. the boat died when we where driving and i get i start little but it stoppet again.
I change the fuel filter and i se in the old one thats its only half full whit fuel.I change the filter but it wont fill upp and fule pump is sounding.
I checket the filter in th suck pipe in thank but its clean. A friend helpet me to connect a small pupm before the filter s? we can get the boat home and whit that pump it worked wery god.My problem how to change the fule pump its under the engine and its wery tight.

Howdy

I'm guessing you have the first gen cool fuel with the pump and cooler is on the port side. You may have a fuel pump issue but could also have a restriction in the components leading to the pump. There is an anti-siphon valve on top of the fuel tank which the rubber fuel line is attached to. These can get clogged up and then the pump has trouble sucking the fuel up.

I would remove it and see if it's sticking.

You can also verify if this is the issue by using a gas can without the valve on it and just put the line in the can

I have checked that tok it upp from the tank and blow in it and suck (got fuel in mouth) its ok. Yes its on the port side and have a plastic cover over the pump/cooler

The plastic cover just snaps on. There are two tabs one top and one bottom in about the middle. Could use you engine serial number to verify the pump, but it should be part number 861156A1, which has been replaced with a complete kit. The pump can still be found searching for the part number.

All that said I still think there may be another issue which is causing your problem.

L622835 is my motornumber. What do you think it my be then?
IF I change The pump is it better to buy The kit or just change the pump?

Being an EFI the pump needs to build pressure to 30 psi to run correctly. You stated that by adding the other pump it ran good. Maybe you didn't run it long enough for other things to show up, don't know. With the motor running good this is just telling me that maybe the issue isn't the pump but a restriction somewhere else prior to the pump.

Stuff in line prior to the pump is your fuel lines (both metal and rubber), fittings, anti-siphon valve and fuel tank pickup tube. Its not uncommon for the rubber fuel lines to collapse, not tube to get clogged. What I would suggest if use a gas can to run the boat on without the valve in place to verify its not tank.

The issue with the pump is the cooler has been corroding over time in slat water. The corrosion still happens in fresh but takes a much longer time. Merc changed the fitting on the pump with the new design. The kit or just the pump will work so long as the pump is your issue.

It was only driven in almoust idle. Starts fine but not tested Hard whit The feeding pump . Sorry for my english

OK that helps, it might be the pump. I just look at it as always good to try and test to make sure before spending money

Just to add for thought...the rubber fuel line between the tank and the pump can crack and suck air or it can collapse and act like a plug. would not be a bad idea to replace even if it looks good.
