Sea Ray with 76' Mercruiser with water in the oil.

My friend has a nice 1976 Sea Ray with a Mercruiser outdrive and a Ford 351 motor. The engine is running good but he is getting water in the oil. Should I assume its the head gasket?

Assume nothing, some basic tests are in order first.

be sure and look at the 2nd link in that thread too. that saved my engine + lead me in the right direction to finding out where the water intrusion was coming from.

Nope,... I'd assume it's a Cracked Block, then Diagnose from there....
