Re: Sea Tow or NO!
Let me tell you a little story about Seatow. Two years ago I was heading out for a fishing trip in the late afternoon. About 18 miles out, my thermostat stuck and my engine quickly overheated. It got so hot, so fast that it apparently heated the ignition coil and fried it. Try as I might,I couldn't get the engine to start again.<br />I called Seatow for assistance and was immediatly put in contact with the Seatow captain operating out of Pt. Judith, RI. He was already on a call but, after appraising my situation, told me that he would be there as quickly as possible. A very short time later, he showed up as promised. He very quickly had me tied to his boat and began towing me back to Watch Hill, RI. I dock my boat in Stonington, CT, which is out of his jurisdiction. He contacted the Seatow group operating out of Mystic, CT and handed me off to them at the RI-CT line. The Seatow Mystic lady captain picked me up and towed me back to my slip all the way up the Pawcatuck River. She put my boat right back in its berth with incredible expertise. After doing all the paperwork, she told me that, had I not been a Seatow member, the tow from Block Island to Stonington, CT would have cost $1500-$1800 dollars. That $100 dollar membership was the best money I've ever spent. I won't go out on the water now without Seatow. My experience with Seatow has been more than satisfactory. They conducted themselves very professionally and were also very courteous. Do yourself a favor and spend the money for the membership. You won't regret it.
