Just to reiterate what someone already said you need to be able to contact the tow company, coast guard or what ever. The best would be to have a sat. phone and vhf. In any event I’d have vhf for sure. Since vhf transmission is line of sight , the taller your antennas the farther you can transmit and receive. I’d suggest at least a 10’ antenna mounted on the highest part of the boat.
