I’ve gone through 2 sensors in 3 seasons. Can anyone convince me it’s a bad idea to just dummy the sensor out? I keep up with impeller changes and watch the temp gauge. This thing has been more of a nuisance than protection. Both sensors were OEM and not cheap. At the very least I’m going with a cheap sensor this time can’t be any worse...

Thanks

I wouldn't even try to convince you not to dummy it out, they have been a PITA ever since Merc started using them

If you can figure out how to dummy it, I would like to know how

I have an older motor but have installed a mechanical gauge to keep an eye on the pressure

Thanks guys. Have a bud who tore apart the sensor, installed the correct resistor and heat shrank the assembly and plugged it back in. I’m probably gonna do the same and install a mechanical gauge as suggested in the off season, which in Alaska isn’t far away

On the mechanical gauge what scale are we looking at? I’m thinking 0-25 PSI?

What resistor value?

Mine is 0-40 and have seen 26 psi. Started looking for 0-30 but did not find one, and now glad I didn't find it, because being in the middle range for normal use would give the gauge an easier time.

When first throttle up I see 25 or so and after running around 4K rpms for a while it will go as low as 18.

I’ll ask him about the resistor and thanks for the pressure info. Much appreciated

As the seawater pump pressure sensor is a 3 wire sensor, there's likely 2 resistors. If I was to has at a guess, I'd use a couple of 10K, set as a voltage divider...
