so i have to redo my transom over the winter and was gonna do a pourable as the stringers and the rest of the boat is in good shape. i wanted to know any input from anyone who has used the pourable products. i was gonna stay away from seacast hearing that it is way more expensive than the other two ($200 a pail) unless it has some really big advantage. i've heard good things about nida bond ($130 a pail) but was curious how arjay stacks up ($110 a pail) is there a strength diffrence or does one crack easier than the others. is one easier to use than the other? any input would be much appreicated. if i had some extra money i'd do my own tests.

never heard of the other 2..... I was planning to use seacast , just cause they are kind a local here in FL and I might be able to save some shipping charges if I go and pick up....saw their website and they make it look easy, and easy to me is worth a little extra $$$

My opinion on pourable transoms is that they are great for one specific usage......on an boat in otherwise excellent condition (solid deck and stringers) where you don't want to pop the cap. In which case you just gain access to the top of the transom, dig out the old one with an electric chainsaw and pour in the new one. Done. For this situation the pourable stuff warrants it's high price in ease and convenience. For boats with any other issues, I'd pop the cap and do a wood transom along with the other needed work.

There have been some Seacast project on here and it has worked very well. Not sure if I've seen any Nidabond ones but would certainly like too. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I used sea cast on a 16' ski boat I'm restoring. It was very easy to use, and I'm amazed at how strong the transom is now. I have a friend who used it on his a couple of years ago, and sold me on it. If you do use it, make sure you make some kind of "funnel" to pour it into the transom. It's pretty thick, so its kind of hard to get it into a narrow transom without the funnel. I made mine out of plywood and some scrap roof flashing. I was worried about it trying to set up too quickly, but we had plenty of working time. I don't know anything about the other products.

I've not used either myself but watched a buddy do a transom with Seacast, it worked great but from what I can tell, Nida Bond is less expensive.

Arjay #6011 is also a ceramic compound but I've not had any experience with it either. http://www.arjaytech.com/overview/overview.htm

I suppose if used correctly, any of these would give satisfactory results.
I'm not sure if it's just an alternative to complete cap removal since any of these provide you with a wood and rot free solution in the end.
