Interesting design. Don't forget to check the caps often! Generally, just leaving the boat on the trailer tilted up is enough to drain water, especially if it has holes for drainage like you did.

yeah thats the problem with the holes to let water flow out from under the deck. it also lets water flow back into the hull and thats what i didnt want to happen i wanted to keep it as dry as possible and i took the caps off today and no water flowed out. and if i didnt have those caps there the water that collected in the bilge from over the winter months that leaked through the tarp would have flowed back under the deck because the bilge was full of water.

ok i just poured 5 gallons into my transom cavity. let tell you that when you start mixing the fibers in you better have a good drill becasue i killed mine. i was able to finish mixing the seacast up. but the drill was smoking alot. i wouldhave finished the pour but i didnt have another drill. im going to have to go an get another one tomorrow. here are some pics

Oh, that is too cool. I see you put bracing in. Was it hard to get the air out?

Gee, not only did you get a life long transom, you also got a new drill out of the deal!

the air bubbles werent that hard to get out i beat on the transom for about 5 minutes with a rubber mallet and my brother in law used a stick to help move it around.

well i didnt get any work done on the boat but i did get the motor rewired and new coilds put on it. so now all i have to do to the motor is change the gear lube. and put it back on the boat. but i before i do that i have to finish up the transom. rewire the cap, put all new switches in and a new tach. then get the cap back on the boat. im not going to paint the boat i figured i would just clean up the gell coat with rubbing compound and if that doesnt work oh well. its just a fishing boat.

How did your seacast pour go? I'm very curious, my seacast order is scheduled to arrive today and I'm planning to pour it this weekend. Still a little nervious about using the seacast instead of wood.

it went real good but is you can pour it all at once well wait the 45 minutes that it says to do. so it doesnt get to hot. the reason i couldnt do the pour all at once when mixing the seacast up i killed my drill it started to smoke. so my next suggestion is get an industrial size drill the black and deckers wont work.

i would have pictures for you but i broke the camera on the last set of pictures i took. the transom is done. now im fixing the hole in the hull. i should be done with that today. then i will have to put the cap back on the boat. then the motor back on then all my gooies i bought.

no need to worry, the pour is a none event, just make a funnel of some sort to direct the mix into the transom gap, you do it all at once or as you want, I did 2 pours weeks apart, it sticks like stink to anything except rotting wood.
I have some on wood scraps that will not come off.
I mixed seacast with a dewalt 18v cordless drill, no problem.

Thank you for the info. Seacast arrived yesterday. I will pour the first bucket before I go to work on Sat morning and the 2nd bucket when I get home. I have a HD Dewalt 1/2" drive drill. I already burned up my old drill getting the old wood transom out.

ok guys the seacast job is done went real good other than killing my drill. i put the cap back on the boat. and where the splashwell meets the transom it doesnt fit tight. so now im going to cut the splashwell wall that sits by the transom off and glass the splashwell to the transom. i dont want to do it that way but thats the only thing i can figure i can do it. because now i will have to cut the slplashwell to get the cap off. so hopefully i wont have to take the cap off again ever. well the camera is broke so there probably wont be any pictures. the wife says it worked when she went with my son on a fieldtrip she was able to get 2 pictures before it died. she said it had brand new bateries in it. so i try it but im not promising much.

well the splashwell is glassed and first coat of paint is on. tomorrow im going to finish the paint then put the rubrail back on then it should be pretty much done other than the trim tabs and trolling motor and finishing up the new wiring.

well the job is done pretty much done. just have to wire the new ignition switch put the battery in and get gas in the tank. the trolling motor isnt on yet. that will be last. i have 2 words to describe the transom (rock solid). hopefully i can borrow my friends camera and take a couple of pics for you guys.

Sounds like a job well done. Glad it came out rock solid. That was a real job you had prepping for the pour. Won't ever have to do that again on this boat!

well i took the boat out today and it ran good. i have to adjust the smart tabs they kept the bow in the water. and the boat was slower than last year. so i made an adjustment. so i will see if that fixes it and if not i can make another adjustment by changing the angle of the tabs. the engine ran better than it has since ive had it. new wiring and coils i might have to adjust the timing it seemed slugish out of the hole shot.

its been awhile since i have posted on the job. it is done painted, smart tabs, the trolling motor had to go back wouldnt fit. i had a custum cover made for it. and cleaning the carb fixed theproblem of being sluggish. i still have to ask my friend to borrow his camera.
