Re: Seadek Faux Teak

Extremely Hot in the sun, and stains easily.

Thanks, but are you sure you're talking about AirTeak.com? I agree those plastic faux teak decking systems get hot but this stuff is for different use. Mostly transoms, toe rails, salon doors, bright work in general - according to their web site.
I was wondering if anyone had worked with their design or installation people yet.

Sorry for the late rebound ..

Obviously you have no knowledge of or experience with closed-cell EVA.

Your right doyall .. but .. Im not talking about the water In the EVA .. Im suggesting a "lift" of the Primary bond of anything that is applied with adheasives .. Water can and will get to the edges and lift the product off the subsurface.

You might want to start a cool thread about this product .. this is kinda a sea deck faux thread and not some other brand thread :)

As to adhesives, I just have two words: Keel Guard.

They never seem to fall off...?

And go figure, it uses 3M PSA... Yet another application that is much more demanding of the adhesive then sticking SeaDek pads to your swim platform.

What company guarantees any install you did yourself?

I'm not getting your point YD. You keep stating it over and over, but seriously no one can guarantee that you will do the job right. All they can guarantee is the product they sent you is good.

I don't get the continual, "authoritative" bashing you are doing with this product you have never used when you can take a few moments and educate yourself with a web search. There's a great search engine everyone's using lately called "google." Perhaps you have heard those pesky kids on your lawn talking about it.

When I type "seadek problems" or "seadeck reviews" or "seadek delamination" into google, guess what comes up? None of the problems you've been so expertly testifying about.

Lots of great products come with no warranty. "No warranty" is not necessarily a comment about the product so much as the context of its use. For example, products made for car racing come with no warranty, but there are literally thousands of race cars taking the checkered flag every day and not blowing up even though there is no warranty on the parts they are running.

*Research* shows tons of satisfied users of this product with none of the hypothetical problems you are claiming.

Who is right? You or the rest of the world?

Our SD Faux Teak is one of the nicest features of our boat. Holds up to major abuse, looks great, feels great. Would love it throughout the rest of the cabin.

The only gripes I can possibly come up with are that it aint cheap, and it takes 6 weeks to get a custom template done. IME, it's worth every penny. Note many existing make and model templates are already done and available on the SD website. If you want it for the start of the season, go get 'er done now.
