An OMC SEADRIVE was designed to be put on a boat that has a full height transom. The kind of boat that you might see having an inboard or a strendrive in it. Those boats had a motor cover inside the cockpit, which took up floor space. The SEADRIVE was mounted to the transom on it's own bracket. Thus getting the floor space back inside the boat.
