Seafoam Idle Problem

When I put Seafaom in my 1991 40HP Evinrude, the idle runs higher that when I’m not using it. I am putting about ½ of a can in 12 gallons of gas. After the seafoam gas runs out it will idle slower. I don't have a tach, but I can tell is running much higher. It's almost high enough for an on the water idle adjustment. <br />Has anyone else had this happen? :)

Re: Seafoam Idle Problem

I have never used seafoam so I dont know is it highly flammable? If it is, its only boosting the burning in your motor, but then you should also get higher WOT rpm when using seafoam. Btw the high idle rpm is not too good for your lower unit.

Re: Seafoam Idle Problem

My 1961 18HP loves Seafoam. Higher idle; higher WOT. Likes 87 octane 24:1 just fine, but thinks Seafoamed fuel is a treat. I'd like to know why, too. Opinions welcomed; knowledge craved.
