Hi All, could anyone tell me what would the mix ration would be for a 12 gal tank? On the can it calls for 1oz. seafoam to 1 gallon of gas. Is it safe to use as an additive, while I'm out cruising or is this desinged to run on a seperate smaller gas tank, while on the muffs as a cleaner? Thanks for your help, Pfistey1

Put 12 oz. in your 12-gallon tank, along with the pre-mixed oil/gas (at whatever ratio that outboard mfg. recommends). It's designed to be used this way. Or you can decarb by spraying it directly into the carb throats, remove plugs, fill jugs, let it sit and then restart...but this is sure to **** off your neighbors if you do it on the muffs in the driveway. Will also turn any nearby structure...such as a garage door...nice and black.

The seperate smaller tank thing you speak of is more for hardcore decarbing, like in the method used in the FAQ forum.
As tim Mc points out, it is perfectly safe to use as an additive...especially since it helps stabilize the fuel. If you are like me and your motor might sit for a few weeks at a time its nice to have Seafoam in the tank.

Do some surfing on old messages here. One of the mechanics said he found bad carb seals in motors that ran a steady diet of SeaFoam.

BillP, Not trying to start a battle but, That was just his opinion. Seafoam has been around for over 50 years and is made to run as a fuel stabilizer and fuel system cleaner. It is highly recommended by most mechanics here in iboats.
Seafoam has nothing in it that will hurt anything in your fuel system or carb's.
Tim

I agree...to each his own on what opinions he believes or uses. All we have is opinions and glossy advertising on any of this stuff. My opinion is people were using concentrations higher than recommended.
