I was looking back through the search on "Seafoam" and read many conflicting reports about when to use it and how, or if it should be used at all.( In the Gas Tank or through the Carb Spray). I believe these posts were from awhile back, so I just wondered what you guys still think is the best thing to do and which method is best. I would really like 12footer and JB to reply, as well as others who have experience with this product. I have a 1990 Evinrude 70 HP that was rebuilt last year.

Thanks, Rick

If the engine waa rebuilt last year, then the combustion chambers should have been cleaned up, and you shouldn't have to worry about decarbing for this year.

I prefer through the carb for old cars, but have only used in the tank on my outboards. No special science behind those methods.

Hello.
I used seafoam last week by spraying it into the carb. The result was amazing.
Within three minutes there was a policeman in my back yard trying to find out if there had been a fire. The smoke was that thick!!
If seafoam is all it claims to be then use it in your fuel an ounce per gallon and every three tanks 2 ounces per gallon. It works for me because I do not need a fuel stabalizer and it keeps the carbs clean at the same time.To winterize you can either spray it in the carb mouth or run a bit of 1:16 oil-gas mix through your engine and grease it up for winter that way.
As a carburator cleaner (by mixing it with fuel)it does a good job.
Don't expect magic, but it is not bad stuff.

rolmops,

Thanks for the reply! I may give it a try in the tank, just so my rebuilt motor won't have build up in the future. Seems like I hear many good things about Seafoam. Is this the same stuff you would put in a car, or is there a Seafoam for Marine use only? I know that my local Carquest has it, but wasn't sure if it was the same thing!

Thank, Rick
