Although I have never used Seafoam on any of my outboards (I hae only used the OMC/BRP product), everyone here seems to swear by it. Today I noticed for the first time that it is intended for automotive use too.

Has anyone here ever used it in a GM auto? I have a 2000 Chevy Astro with a 4.3 litre engine (145,000 miles) in it and am wondering if an application of Seafoam would be beneficial.

Dump a can in your gas tank and give her a whirl. Most people notice it right off the bat. Helps clean fuel injectors, De carbs motor and other things. It wont hurt anything so the worst you will be out is the 7 bucks for the can.

Another vote , here .
A can in the tank every 10 tanks , + half a can in the intake for a smoking good decarb , every 6 months .
I do both Jeeps at the same time , so I can impress the neighbors and 911 dispatchers .:D

Is there any chance that oxygen sensors could suffer from usage of Seafoam and alike products?

I do it to my 98 Civic and 03 Durango once a year. I hook it up to a vacume hose while revving the engine just enough to keep it from stalling. After it sits for about 30 minutes, I'll smoke the neighborhood :D

The last time I did it to my Durango, it some how caused the engine light to come up. After checking the codes with my OBDII reader, it turned out to be the spark plug on my # 7. I replaced all 8 sparks again with platinums and all was well. This was the first time a code pops up after using SeaFoam.

Good stuff, keeps things clean. None of my cars have seen a shop since new!

It's good stuff. I'm still surprised how many people look at me with raised eyebrows when I mention it. I use it once a year in all my small engines.

Jay I use it in all my engines, including the 1948 Ford 8n tractor, purrs like a kitten and starts every time, never any problems with the fuel system,

The only thing bad about it is that, now , that everyone is using it, they have raised the price about $3 a can more.

directions are on the can, I think it is 1 can to 18 gallons of gas, for fuel
half a can in the oil to clean crank case
half a can down to carb (while running) to do a major top end cleaning
read the directions!
good stuff!

A way better solvent to use is what is found in the Chevron Techron fuel additive. SeaFoam is just an expensive way to buy naptha and isopropyl alcohol.

Wow! I never ever thought about that. :eek:

Perhaps one day, one of our many mechanical experts here may share the answer to that with the rest of us. ;)

Dillited per instructions should be fine as long as your plugs have good fire but if they don't you have already done bad things to the cat with raw fuel

Some where in here, in an old thread, someone found the formula-cheap to make.
May have been lube....

All you have to do is look for the MSDS. All it is is Naptha, Isopropyl alcohol and pale oil. If you are putting it in your gas, you can leave out the oil.

Yea and biscuits are flour, buttermilk, and lard/Crisco. If you don't have the correct amount of each, you might make something, but it won't be biscuits.;)
